What is a Digital Certificate of Signature?

A Digital Certificate of Signature is an electronic document by which a certification authority (SAT) ensures the link between the identity of an individual or entity and its public key.
Article 17-G of the Federal Tax Code describes digital certificates as follows: Electronic document, data message or other record that associates a public key with the identity of its owner, confirming the link between it and the data creation of an Advanced Electronic signature or a Digital Certificate. In addition to the public key and the identity of its owner, a Digital Certificate contains the following attributes:

- The mention that they are issued as such. Regarding the Digital Certificate of Signature, also must be specified the limits for their use.
- The unique identification code of the certificate.
- The statement that was issued by the Tax Administration Service and an email address.
- Holder's name of the certificate and its key of the Federal Register of Taxpayers
- Period of validity of the certificate, specifying the start day of its validity and the date of termination.
- The mention of the technology used in the creation of an Advanced Electronic Signature in the certificate.
